Fake Turf Temecula

One of the main mistakes made when choosing an artificial turf is to consider these three aspects as a starting point:

Price: the more expensive the better the quality.

Height: the higher the better the quality.

Stitches: the more stitches the better the quality.

Although these are important factors to take into account, they should not be our starting point. To choose the right artificial turf, the first factor to consider is not so much the characteristics of the material itself, but the use for which we want to use it: Artificial turf for terraces, artificial turf for gardens, artificial turf for swimming pools, artificial turf for a stand, artificial turf for a public access place... Each of these uses requires certain characteristics.

Before moving on, we will make a parenthesis to explain some basic and necessary concepts to follow the explanation:

Stitches or Density

There is a tendency to confuse stitches with density: the greater the number of stitches (per m2), the greater the density of the turf; the density of the fiber is the thickness of the turf. At first glance, it might seem logical that the higher the number of stitches per m2, the higher the density, i.e., the thicker the grass. But this is actually somewhat misleading since with the same number of stitches two yarns with different thicknesses will confer different densities to the turf. That is to say, with the same number of stitches a thinner yarn will give less density than a thicker yarn.

Therefore, the number of stitches per m2 and the DTEX (the weight in grams of 1,000 meters of yarn) must be considered together. Thus, with the same number of stitches, a low DTEX will indicate that the yarn weighs little, therefore it is thinner and consequently the grass will be less dense.

That said, it should be taken into account that an excess of density will give us a very compact surface, which will have a less natural appearance and will increase the surface temperature in summer.

Resistance to treading

Artificial turf has good resistance to treading. This is known as "memory effect" and this makes the turf recover its initial state and height after being walked on. The resistance will be determined by the height, density, DTEX and shape of the fiber.

Thus, the denser, shorter, with more DTEX and rigid fiber, will give us greater resistance to the tread (i.e., greater memory effect) but in turn, will have a rougher feel.

We must look for the combination of softness and memory effect that best suits each project.

Drainage capacity

It is important that the material has a good drainage capacity, being the usual and advisable in decorative models a drainage capacity of 60 L/min.

Color

The color is another very important aspect when choosing our artificial turf. We advise to look for a lawn that has a realistic tone and saturation. The mixture of fibers of different tones can make it more similar to natural grass. Keep in mind that natural grass is not a homogeneous green, a little bit of controlled imperfection is always appropriate. We must look for realism and make it as similar as possible to natural grass. The combination of yarns of different shades of green or even the mixture of brown and green yarns, get that feeling.
